As the debris from the door settles, Pike tosses in a thunderstone. We notice a creature of some sort hiding in the corner of this bookcase lined room. There is also an open door leading to a hallway. Pike attempts to shoot the creature but misses. Sanna casts light on her short spear. The creature moves up and attacks Sanna, hitting her twice with it’s long tentacly arms. It begins a grapple on her and slowly begins to constrict her. Beltin hits it with acid, Obregon shoots it 3 times and Gonoan finishes it off. We notice another one moving in the door way. Pike hides behind a bookcase while Sanna heals herself with Natuuru’s help. The creature attempts to grapple Gonoan and fails. Beltin hits it with acid, Obregon climbs down from the roof and Gonoan hits it once. Pike continues to hide and Sanna moves to the door, hitting it with magic missiles. It manages to grapple Gonoan with one arm. Beltin moves up and gets hit on the way. He hits it once and Obregon shoots it twice which takes it down. We move to the door and see a short hallway leading to a closed door. Pike hears movement behind the door and picks the lock. He pushes open the door to this room with a desk, bookcases and more papers and books than a wizard could read in a month. We see a light skinned, stocky wizard in the final gestures of casting a spell. A giant rat appears near the door to join its twin already moving to attack. We take the rats down quickly, Beltin hits the wizard with acid and Gonoan cleaves him in half. We can hear that the Nightwatchmen and Archanians have entered the building. The other rooms are empty and whoever was fighting below has vanished. We decide to pursue the escapees after we search the wizard. We find combat gear, spell component pouch, rings and earring. We head downstairs and start looking for a hidden exit. We find 2, one is low ceilinged heading towards the sewer while the other is normal sized and headed up towards the street. Obregon tracks the cultists to the sewer bound tunnel. We let the nightwatch know what we find and head toward the sewer. Pike leads the way as he can stand normally. We follow the tracks and end up in the courtyard where Pike, Obregon and Gonoan encountered the cultists earlier. It appears they went into the alley and split up. We have lost the trail and so head back to the cultist headquarters. We inquire of the nightwatchmen if they found anything. They found a large black leather bound book and some paperwork. The book contained information on the moon phases and the best times to sacrifice to evil deities. Sanna reads through the spell book and learns the wizards name is Alvarici. He shares bloodlines with the some northern tribes who are primarily barbarians. He is from the north and probably had affinity with cold spells. We read through the papers and find some notes about him. The nightwatchman heads away to use the new knowledge to assist them in interrogating their prisoners. We begin searching the house from top to bottom and find a cask with 200 gp in the desk but nothing else of value. We go towards the Arachnians house in search of them. One of them approaches us after a while and leads us to a group of them which includes Misstress Ethtran. We give them the details of what we found. They refer us back to the nightwatchmen who know the general area of the sacrifice now but need help narrowing it down. Obregon takes their information and figures out where the cultists must be heading. We decide to head out and try to lay a trap for the cultists. With horses borrowed from the nightwatch, we make our way slowly and find the clearing approximately 5 hours before the sacrifice. The clearing has a tree in it and is surrounded by trees and brush. Pike climbs the tree in the clearing as the rest of us position ourselves around the perimeter. We hear them approaching and get ready. There is a gnoll leader with 2 underlings behind, then the female cultist leader, 2 scouts, 2 rogues and another gnoll bringing the prisoners. They begin doing spot checks and one of the scouts sees Gonoan, and cries out in alarm. Sanna fires off a lightning ball into their midst. All but 3 of the gnolls go down. Pike kills one of the remaining with his crossbow, Beltin gets the other with acid. Obregon hits the remaining gnoll priest twice. Sanna orders him to release the prisoners, Pike waits to see if anything comes in to view, and Beltin moves close enough to activate his acid aura. The priest draws his sword and holds it above the female prisoner, threatening to kill her if he is attacked. Obregon fires an arrow at him but misses and he swings at the prisoner, injuring her. Obregon fires again and does not miss. As the priest collapses, Beltin moves to the woman and heals her. What comes next?

Pike, Gonoan, and Obregon follow the blue cloaked people. Pike hears a bark of laughter as they go around a corner into an alley. Pike follows and they are not to be seen in the alley though there is an opening down a short ways. He approaches the corner and peeks around and they are still not to be seen. It opens onto a courtyard with multiple doorways off of it. As Pike pauses to reconnoiter, he hears the sounds of beings preparing weapons. Obregon and Gonoan approach him from behind. Pike calls out “Come out, come out, wherever you are” but gets no response. He steps into the opening and calls out “Parley and I better not get shot; by either of those crossbows”. Obregon and Gonoan arrange themselves to defend Pike if necessary. Pike continues to move forward and talk. He notices 2 figures hiding to either side of the opening and attempts to signal the others surreptitiously. The ladies put their crossbows down and step back. A new woman steps out in front of Pike and says “You’ve been following us a while now haven’t you? What is your business?” We ask about the giant spider and why they didn’t seem surprised. They claim to have just been watching as the spider had been found days ago and was not new news. Pike asks “What do you know about the spiders? And who are you anyway?” She invites us to step out of the alley and talk. We are told that there was a giant spider carcass with a note on it which read “They walk among us” Pike tells them his name and asks who they are. They claim to be travelers and caravan guards. We don’t believe their story and Gonoan tells them so while giving them the evil eye. “ So? You are done here so just go away. If you don’t go, you may be outnumbered. I am going to count to 3 and then we will be nice and just beat you senseless” Gonoan turns on his heel and walks away as she is talking. Meanwhile, in another part of the city. The woman with the St Cuthbert emblem asks Beltin, Sanna and Natuuru to come inside with the body and tell her the whole story. She is planning to get answers from the downed adversary. We find ourselves in an ordinary home with plain furnishings. She identifies herself as Mistress Ethtran. She is a follower of St Cuthbert and also a shapeshifter whose regular form is a giant spider. The spider carcass was one of them as well. She tells of their struggles versus Iuz and that they are lawful. They hail from the jungles to the south before being accepted by St Cuthbert and Pelor. They now battle against Iuz and his minions. They are in Greyhawk now as they have followed the battle here and where would be better to stir up mischief than the gem of human civilization. Apparently, Tiira was upset because the dead spider was her sister. There is then a knock at the door. It is the nightwatchmen who are asking about the trouble nearby. Ethtran answers their questions and allows them to help question the cultist. They appear to be aware of the shapeshifters. We learn that the cultist headquarters lies on the other side of the courthouse square. There is going to be a sacrifice 2 nights hence, outside the city, of a follower of Lydia and a wizard. They are considered to be 2 halves of a whole as they have an intimate relationship. Ethtran advises us to stay in touch with the church and the nighwatchmen while trying to get a feel for how the city feels about the shapeshifters. If we want to help, we could use the information obtained from the cultist prisoner to deal with the cultist base. We head towards home. When Pike, Obregon and Gonoan arrive home, they find a scroll on a table that just says “hey you” on it. It is not trapped and Obregon cannot find any tracks indicating someone had been here. Gonoan opens it and reads it aloud. He doesn’t understand it even though it is in common. Pike tries to make sense of it. It appears to be printed rather than hand-written. It is from Adriana, whom one of us met at World Serpent Inn. She is moving nearby and has been trying to locate this person. It appears she is seeking work in a whorehouse and she is coming to our world. To reply, put a note in the case and toss it up in the air and she will get it. After everyone has read it, no one claims it . Beltin writes back and tosses it in the air. It disappears before it hits the ceiling. Sanna believes it went through the astral plain based on how it vanished. We begin to plan how to hit the cultist base. First we are going to scope it out and try to learn what we are up against. There is a knock on the door and it is a messenger from the Night Watch. He tells us that the Night watch and shapeshifters are planning to cover the exits and prevent any cultists from escaping. We agree and decide to breach after first light. Tiira wants to lead us to the base and meets us in the morning. On our way, Tiira sees some of her folk trying to move a spider body but are being harassed by townspeople. Pike begins to speak with the crowd and some of them begin to advance on him. Beltin bluffs the crowd in to believing that the corpse is dangerous and they should back off. However, the people advancing on Pike continue moving. We prepare to stop them with non-lethal means when screams erupt throughout the square. There are several giant spiders moving in on the crowd. Beltin asks Tiira if these are her sisters and she replies no, they are hunting spiders and shouldn’t even be around here. Beltin and Obregon take one down, Sanna the second and Gonoan charges and kill the third. As the watch approaches and begins to investigate, Tiira urges us to move towards the cultist base as they are likely responsible and the others will be waiting. Sanna casts Protection from arrows on everyone but Gonoan. We move into position with Obregon on the adjacent roof while Beltin and Sanna approach the lookout pretending to be amorous. When they reach the stairs to the veranda where the lookout is, Beltin spider climbs the wall and spits acid at him. He attempts to shoot Beltin, and then hits him with his short sword. Sanna hits him with her persistent dagger and he drops. We find Caltrops, mithral chain1100g, short sword10g, lt crossbow20g, 19 bolts2g, and combat gear on the body. We move to the door and Natuuru casts Bless while Pike drinks a protection from evil potion. Gonoan and Beltin hit the door with the battering ram and it shatters inward…fade to black.

We split up to handle business. Sanna gets the cloak identified as resistance +1 and figures out the potions were cure serious. We sell the cloak and divide the potions among ourselves. She shares our adventures with them and they advocate for breaking through the barriers. Sanna declines to commit to such an action. Beltin and Pike take the remaining 7 bottles to an alchemist to have them identified. The alchemist asks for a day to check them out and gives a receipt. Sanna seeks out the temple of Wee-Jas with Obregon tagging along. She talks to them and they are aware of the old shrine under the temple. They talk about the barriers being made to keep creatures from below out of their shrine. The silver token is for defeating a quasit aligned with a demon prince, Grazzitz opposed to Orcus. Sanna describes what is there now. The priests are opposed to us going through the barriers as they feel it could unleash other horrors. They offer magic items in exchange for the coins and a promise to leave the barriers alone. Sanna and Obregon choose to talk with the rest of the party before committing. Gonoan talks to the bartender to see what is going on in town. Nothing of interest comes up. We meet back up at the house and discuss our options. The next morning we split up. Gonoan goes to spread the word that we are seeking Rolph the bandit healer. Pike approaches the thieves guild about disposing of Moniqua’s gear. Beltin returns to the alchemist. Only one of the flasks has anything worth while, it is an alchemical acid (2d6 damage). Sanna and Obregon seek out the priests of WeeJas again. After all items are sold we each earn 1438 gp. The group returns to the priests of WeeJas to offer a map and the key. We agree to sell them for 1200 gp. The party then decides to pursue the rumor of the giant spider we heard a few days ago. As we approach the courthouse to investigate, we notice an unusually large amount of people going in and out as well as a number of people in the square looking and gawking. We begin to ask people what is going on and learn that there was a huge spider carcass which has recently been removed. As we are looking around we notice a young lady with a grey dress sobbing, who then runs off. Beltin, Sanna and Nat follow her. There is also a group of folks in blue cloaks not reacting but just watching the crowd. They turn and begin to slip away. Gonoan, Obregon and Pike follow after. Beltin and Sanna chase the girl into a narrow alley. She is heading to a door way when a black wispy form darts out and into her skin. A guard type steps out in front of us and tells us to mind our own business. Sanna immediately begins to cast a spell and Beltin intimidates him, saying that we just want to ensure the girl is ok so step aside. He steps back and looks up allowing us to notice 4 people on the roofs with crossbows and daggers. Beltin says “I wouldn’t” but they throw their daggers at Beltin but miss. The crossbowmen throw caltrops on the ground. Sanna casts an electrical storm that kills one and seriously injures the other 3. Beltin moves through the caltrops towards the girl. One of the guards above shoots Beltin with a crossbow quarrel and the other 2 flee. The guard on the ground grabs the girl and begins to move away. Sanna hits him with magic missiles and he falls. Beltin spits acid at the remaining guard and kills him. He then moves to the girl and picks her up. One of the fleeing guards returns and throws something at Beltin, shouting we warned you to leave it alone. It misses and he flees again. As we prepare to leave, a lady in mithral armor with a mace and holy symbol of St Cuthbert steps out and demands to know what we are doing with her daughter Tiira. We begin to try and explain when Tiira recovers enough to say “No, they saved me, they are heroes” And scene…

We begin to remove her equipment and find combat gear, full plateM, heavy steel shield, skull topped heavy maceM, cloakM(resistance +1), silver holy symbol, spell component pouch, golden token of WeeJas. Pike and Obregon search the room and bodies but find nothing else of value. After stripping Moniqua, we notice her skin is thickened and scaly, probably contributing to her armor class. We begin checking the 3 doors out of here, starting with the one amidst the alcoves. The door is neither trapped nor locked. A large crumbling table dominates this room and a stone shelf in the wall holds a number of glass jars. Gonoan goes in and checks the room; finds a number of different sized and shaped jars but not much else. Sanna detects magic and finds 3 of the jars which radiate magic(cure serious wounds). We take them and the remaining 10 bottles with us. We move to the door adjacent to the exit. The room is full of broken down bunks and nothing else. Nothing radiates magic. At the final door, there is a large table with the symbol of WeeJas carved into the top and a spike-less iron maiden in the corner. There is a hole in the top with a funnel attached. No magic is detected here either. We awaken Moniqua, Beltin intimidates her and we begin to question her. She claims to be on a mission from Orcus to animate the dead. Orcus desires to cover the world with undead. She also believes the tokens will get you through the barriers. She doesn’t like that we want to destroy her undead. She mocks us as mercenaries. She doesn’t know anything about Coranth or the orcs. She does tell us there are many creatures from the underdark and the abyss down here but she doesn’t control them. Her skin is due to infernal rituals. Gonoan punches her and knocks her back unconscious. We head towards the surface and return to Greyhawk with Moniqua. Pike and Beltin drop the armor, shield and mace in the thieves warehouse (Soddenhold). Pike picks the lock and we store our stuff in a box and leave it all locked up again. Meanwhile, back at the bridge, there is a flutter in the air and a ray comes out of thin air targeting Moniqua. A flying imp, which shot the ray, appears about 60’ away. Gonoan throws himself on top of Moniqua. The imp turns invisible, Sanna detects magic and finds the imps aura. Obregon hits it with one out of four arrows. The imp creates a ball of chaotic energy around itself and moves towards us. Sanna hits it with magic missiles and Obregon hits it with another arrow. Natauru heals Moniqua one hit point to stabilize. The imp flees and Obregon attempts to shoot it but misses. Beltin and Pike return and then Beltin heads in to Greyhawk to get someone from the church of st Cuthbert. They bring a hearse and load up Moniqua. While they are doing this, we notice movement in the brush. Gonoan charges it and gets hit by one of its claws and it becomes visible. Beltin hits it with acid and Pike moves around behind it. Obregon hits it with a couple of arrows and it hits Beltin. Sanna hits it with hail of stone and it falls. The guards want to know what is going on and we give them a short answer. We follow them to the church, while Pike and Gonoan go to recover the gear we left in Soddenhold. Pike is unable to pick the lock so goes looking for another way in. He discovers the warehouse extends over the river and attempts to swim underneath and find a way in. He comes up in a room whose floor has caved in to the water. He climbs out but falls back in. He gets his climbing gear and tries again. He comes to a double door leading into the warehouse proper. He struggles to pick the lock and gets it eventually. He passes a number of barred cells which are unoccupied but he hears babbling. It appears to be coming from a dead human male body in one of the cells. He comes upon another locked door and struggles to pick it as well but succeeds after a while. He ascends a staircase to a catwalk which leads in to the warehouse itself. He jumps down in to the warehouse and falls in to a pit trap with spikes at the bottom. That hurt! He climbs back out and lets Gonoan in through the front door. Meanwhile, the rest of the party arrives at the church and are led in to a secluded room. Moniqua is moved elsewhere. Eritae meets with us and asks us to fill her in. We let her know everything that has happened. She tells us that there are some worshipers of WeeJas in town and they may be able to help understand the tokens if we can find them. She would also be interested in knowing where the imp came from. Then a couple of guys come back in with some information from Moniqua. We overhear that she was tough but gave up some information. She made a pact with Orcus to find what she thinks is a treasure or magic in the area. Orcus sent the hooded pupils to aid her. And he imbued the area with some of his power to raise the dead. Eritae tells us that it appears Orcus wants someone to challenge him as he has not struck down his priestess for being captured. She asks if we are planning to return and we answer affirmatively. Until next time…

Sanna attempts to use diplomacy on the hooded humanoid with no effect. Natauru determines it is a hooded pupil which is undead. Beltin immediately attacks with acid breath scoring first blood. Pike misses with a crossbow bolt, Obregon gets in a single hit. The hooded pupil moves down the wall away from us and 2 more drop from above the doorway. Gonoan charges one and hits it hard. Sanna casts magic missile against the same one and it falls. Natauru attempts to turn the other and fails. Beltin follows the one on the wall. Pike puts a crossbow bolt in the one on the ground and Obregon hits it with an alchemist arrow and set it on fire. The pupil on fire takes time to put it out while the one on the wall jumps down on to the table but lands poorly. Sanna hits it with magic missiles and Beltin takes it out with his Morningstar. We begin searching the room when another hooded pupil appears at the doorway. Gonoan immediately hits it. Sanna gets it with a flame sphere and Gonoan takes it down with his axe. Pike finds a secret drawer in the statue which contains some assorted religious objects. We move down the hallway and see the far wall of the next room appears to be flaming behind which are inscribed arcane runes. To the left there is a fresh water cistern in the floor of the hall, while the hall to the right extends into the darkness. Sanna knows the runes indicate the different energy forces (ie cold, fire) and pose no immediate danger. She discovers that if you touch one of the symbols, the fire changes to whichever she touches. Beltin spider climbs around the cistern and finds the doors unlocked. Gonoan attempts to jump the cistern but doesn’t quite make it and falls into the water. Beltin pulls him out. We find a room with a fine desk and chair surrounded by glowing runes with a couple of bookcases along the wall. Beltin and Gonoan break the bookcases apart and find 2 scrolls and 2gp worth of trinkets. We use the boards to help everyone cross the cistern. Sanna attempts to identify the scrolls and deciphers one as death ward but fails to figure out the other. She also determines that the runes are designed to either keep something in or something out. Gonoan throws a pebble through and it just lands on the desk. We tie a rope around Pike and he crosses the runes which then go out. He heads to the desk and opens the drawer. Inside is a silver token embossed with the symbol of WeeJas. There is also a gp worth of assorted items on the desk. All of a sudden, Obregon and Gonoan who are standing in the door way feel something fly past them but can’t see anything. Gonoan closes the door to keep it from coming back in as we finish searching the desk area. Nat believes the token has no real purpose anymore. We don’t find anything else of interest and so we leave and head down the other hallway. There is a 5’ wide passageway heading up and there is azure wall of force blocking access further down the original passage. There is another one past the first which is red. Beltin attempts to pass through with the token but fails. So, we head up the smaller passage which ends in a door. Through the door is an odd chamber littered with dead that have been disinterred from a number of alcoves in the wall. There are also doors to our right and left. We hear something moving up ahead. Sanna calls out hello and is answered by a female voice. She asks us to talk amongst ourselves while she gets ready to kill us. Beltin asks why she wants to kill us and she says to reanimate us for her lord, Orcus. We buff up and move ahead. We see she is a fair skinned, blonde haired human woman in full plate armor with a skull headed mace and steel shield. She says “oh, human types” and attempts to cause fear in Beltin which fails. Beltin breathes acid on her and gets her full in the face. Gonoan attempts to hit her and misses due to her ducking into an alcove. Sanna casts an electric fireball which just catches her. She casts doom on Gonoan. Obregon, Beltin and Gonoan all miss her. Sanna hits her with an electric lance. She cries “My name is Moniqua and I’ll be back”, grows demonic wings and attempts to fly away. Gonoan and Beltin move to block her exit from the area. Sanna misses with a scorching ray. The blonde takes a healing potion. Beltin hits her with acid again. Sanna burns her with Burning hands and she falls to the ground. What goodies does she carry?

Obregon goes to the church of St Cuthbert and has his curse removed, Pike goes to the church of Oldimarra and has his disease cured. We split up. Gonoan goes to the Griffons Nest to drink and seek gossip. He hears that people have been talking about our defeating the guillotine (we receive the Favor of the headmaster; if we are hit with a vorpal weapon, we only take damage). He also hears about the 9 demi-gods that Zagyg imprisoned beneath Castle Greyhawk. Sanna checks in at the mage’s guild. She relays what has happened since we left. She asks to speak to the next level up from her contact, seeking additional information on her mission. She is told about a huge spider being spotted around the courthouse. Beltin visits the Merchant’s Guild to join. Yala Sory speaks to him and tells him that one of the missing persons we were keeping an eye out for was rescued from Castle Greyhawk. Beltin spoke to him and got his story. He was on a caravan and then woke up in a dark room with some others. He was battered and bleeding. Some of the others with him died. One day the guards (who they never saw) left the barred door ajar and they escaped into the first level of the war tower. A group of adventurers stumbled across them and returned them to Greyhawk. Apparently not everyone from the caravan was taken. Others were just knocked unconscious and only some items were taken from the caravan. Pike and Obregon wander his territory, the river quarter. Pike notices a guild sign indicating he needs to meet with someone from the guild. It is at a rundown house. He finds what looks like a human thug, Thomas Radic . He wants the lowdown on the rooms, traps and treasures we came across. He lets Pike know that he will be dealing with him instead of Tirra now. He also gets information on a guild warehouse to leave things at that he can’t get through the gates. He is tasked with finding out what the bandits are doing as they are infringing on the area of the Greyhawk thieve’s guild. We get our items identified and appraised, which amounts to 1246 gp each. We furnish and move into our house in Clerkberg. Then we head back to the ruins. We continue down the corridor we left and see a passageway off to our right. It leads to a chamber with stone tables, an altar on a raised platform and a large statue of a beautiful woman. There is a large goblinoid creature in a voluminous robe of whom we can only see his red, glowing eyes. We move into positions, Sanna greets it and it spider climbs up the wall. What happens next?

The ogres approach and charge. One hits Sanna pretty hard as she moves away and we get in some hits in the first round. One of them charges Beltin and almost kills him but Gonoan and Obregon get in big hits and take them both down. We find hide armor+1, 1015gp, Greatclubs+1, 2005gp, and rings of protection +1,2000gp, on the ogres. We move back to the room we found the injured bandits in to spend the night. We rest uneventfully. In the morning, we go towards the locked door in the lift chamber. It has unnamed enchantments on it and Beltin unlocks and opens the door. It opens onto a spiral staircase going down. We head down. At the bottom we enter a room with 4 large braziers around a pile of skulls being constructed by 3 human skeletal warriors, with 3 skeletal wolves in attendance. They charge us. Beltin and Gonoan each kill one and Naturu turns the rest. The wolves flee down the staircase. Beltin kicks over the pile of skulls; Obregon and Pike search the pile and find a symbol underneath. When we look down the staircase, we see a dead bugbear on the floor next to an alcove with the sculpture of a leering skull in it and the floor is scorched. The symbol on the floor is of Wee-Jas. Pike searches the bugbear and finds a mace with the head shaped like a skull which Obregon takes. There are more stairs going down to a set of double doors or a passage to the west. We opt for the passage. It leads to a pair of double doors behind which is a steep stair case into a frigid room that appears to have been a refrigerated area. We head back to the other set of doors and open them. They open onto a long hallway. There are double doors a short way down on the left. We open them and there is a small chapel with an altar at the end of a set of pews with a blood red tapestry depicting a skull headed mace. As we move into the room, a large mace with the head of a skull rises up and sends blackness through the room. It curses Obregon. We attack it and discover it has hardness and is difficult to damage. Gonoan rages and starts whaling on it. Naturu attempts to turn it without success. Pike sneaks forward to try and get behind it. Sanna hits it with electricity. Beltin and Obregon keep hitting it and doing no damage while Gonoan keeps beating it down. Pike attempts to disable it and fails. Sanna hits it with acid. It continues attacking Beltin. Beltin breathes acid on it. Pike finally manages to disable it though we keep hitting it until it is destroyed. We search the room and find nothing. We leave and return to Greyhawk to heal Pike and Obregon.

We decide to thoroughly search the room with the large double doors. We find random loot between 10 and 30 gp. We recall that there are runes just inside the wall of force that say “Death is the key to passage beyond; so too are there keys to passage below”. Sanna uses the wand of detect magic and finds the runes, statues, doors and the eye are magical plus there is a haze of necromancy pervading the room. The statues appear to be moveable so we move them onto the runes in different combinations until one is on dark and the other on earth. An ornate key falls out of the air in front of the door. Beltin unlocks the door, pushes them open and the dwarven statues come to life. They begin to move towards Beltin. We manage to destroy them with no casualties. When they break apart, there is loot in the rubble worth 135 gp. There are also 4 potions. This large room has a large death symbol on the floor and a large statue of a dwarf holding an everburning flame. Sanna uses her wand on this room and it also reeks of necromantic magic. When we step into the room, dust and debris swirl up into 3 tiny creatures that move to attack. Beltin hits them with acid and Sanna with burning hands. Pike hits one and they triple team him, hitting him a few times. Pike moves away and they follow but fall to attacks from the rest of us. Pike loses some Strength and his skin turns green. We begin to search the room as Sanna attempts to identify the potions. They are Potions of repair light damage. We hear a noise from out in the large room which Naturu identifies as humanoid shaped undead. We move to intercept them. It is 2 ghouls. Beltin and Gonoan get in good hits but Gonoan is sickened by their stench. We take them down pretty quickly and resume searching the room. Pike finds a secret panel in the chest of the statue with a lever inside. He pulls the lever and the statue moves to the side revealing a dwarven corpse. We see crystals(4 magic (crystal of life drinking least400,return least300, security (300), illumination(100) ), anklet(translocation;conjuration1400), gauntletsM(lightning;evocation;1000gp) on the body. Pike checks for traps and finds none. We search the body and find an ornate key and 110 gp. Pike starts removing items. Sanna takes the anklet and crystals, Pike puts on the gauntlets and Beltin holds the key and gold. Is that ogres we hear?

Sanna casts a fireball and hits them all, both swarms are destroyed. The shaedlings create walls of darkness and cut off our sight of them. Sanna throws an ice knife through at them. Beltin goes through the shadow wall and attacks one. They both attack him and do a little damage. Gonoan comes through and attacks as well. One retreats and gets taken down. Sanna hits the other with magic missiles and Beltin breathes acid on it and it falls. We start to search the room. Gonoan and Pike start checking alcoves. The doors are metal and sealed. The open alcoves are burial chambers with 18 dwarven bodies in each. They find nothing in the first 3. Meanwhile the rest search the symbols and pillars. We discover that the Blackstone crest is on each. The pillars have the symbols orientation varied on each side. We turn them with great effort. Over the iron bound double door it says”4 facing forward, stand upright Blackstone stand, 2 facing inward, seal darkness deep by hand. We figure out how to position the pillars which cause the symbols to raise up. We turn them inward and metal plates close off the chasm. We also hear the double doors unlock. Then a sword wraith descends the stairs and enters the room. We brace for an attack but do not attack first. The wraith approaches Sanna and gestures towards the stairs up. Sanna moves away and the wraith becomes angry and attacks Beltin. Sanna and Obregon attack with readied actions doing a little damage. It hits Beltin who returns the hit. Sanna attempts to hit it with a spell that doesn’t affect it. Obregon shoots it 3 times and it disappears. We approach the double door and open it. We see a large room with 8 sarcaphogi, huge double doors, a flaming eye in the floor surrounded by dwarven runes, 2 everburning braziers and 2 statues of dwarven warriors. We carefully move up to the flaming eye and Gonoan reads the runes. They are a series of words, repeated on each side but in different orders. The pupil of the flaming eye is a moving sphere which we can occasionally see a key hole in. We look around the room and find no clues to tell us how to move on. We start searching everything. The braziers contain stones with continual flame. Pike removes his and narrowly avoids a dart trap. Under the stone is a lever. Beltin pulls it and the eye’s pupil stops revolving. We try some combinations with the stones on the runes with no effect. We move back out and search the remaining alcoves, looking desperately for a key. Gonoan searches the miniature forge and the symbol of Moradin depresses. A flaming ooze comes out and attacks him. The rest of the party rushes to his aid; Sanna kills it with an ice knife. Gonoan looks into the opening and sees nothing. But he does get an adamantine holy symbol. We manage to open the sealed alcove doors and find the crypts of nobles but still no key. Where is the key???

We finish speaking to the mages but learn nothing of interest. We decide to head back to Greyhawk and go looking for Marcus to arrange a caravan for us to accompany. He is surprised that we are alive and takes some time to examine us to determine that we are who we say we are. He does know of a caravan we can work with on the way back. We arrive in Greyhawk without incident. We check in to the Griffon’s nest. Sanna reports in at the Mage’s guild. He relates our adventures to his contact who has nothing new for him. He then goes to the magic school and asks about the monks order. He learns they are the Kallemach, an evil order. The Shadowin monks may know more. Pike and Gonoan go to check in at the thieve’s guild. Tirra meets him and listens to his tale. She is not very interested in what we have done and is disappointed that he has done nothing for the guild. She instructs him to stay away from the guild as he is being scryed unless she tells him otherwise. She will assign him a handler and they will be in touch. She will also look into the Kallemach monks. Obregon and Beltin start looking at houses. After the rest of the group go to bed, Pike stays up to meet his handler. He notices a pair of halflings go to the bar. Another Halfling(Gurps) joins him and takes him out on the street to show him around the area he will be working. As they left, Pike notices the other 2 halflings are talking about trying to kill him. When they return, the sober one starts to follow him but when Pike turns to confront him, he backs down. The next day we head to Castle Greyhawk. We enter through the elevator shaft. We head towards the door way with the Wall of Force. We head down the stairs amid a blue glow. At the bottom we enter a large room with alcoves along the walls, a large platform in the middle with a whole in it with cerulean light leaking out of it. In the first alcove, we see an altar with a mini forge on top, which appears to be giving off heat. The second has an iron bound door in front of it. Pike listens but hears nothing. All of a sudden, a pair of black skinned creatures fly out of the hole in the platform accompanied by 2 swarms of spiders. To arms…
